Paul Kunzman

Honored in 2002

Paul Kunzman of Alliance was a promoter of golf in the state's Panhandle region for more than 50 years before his death In October 2001 at age 73. He was an organizer of the Western Nebraska Amateur Golf Association, now called the Nebraska Panhandle Golf Association, and served from 1976 to 1992 on the Nebraska Golf Association board. He also served on the Nebraska Golf Hall of Fame Committee.

A 10 time city champion, Paul served on building committees for Alliance's Skyview municipal golf course and Its clubhouse. He was a longtime officer of the Panhandle Golf Association and Panhandle Senior Golf Association. His efforts aided Skyview in playing host to the 1960 Nebraska Women's State Championship and the 1963 and 1975 Nebraska Amateur.

A 1945 graduate of St. Agnes Academy in Alliance, he was a coach at the school for more than 30 years. He owned Kunzman Title Co. in Alliance for more than 25 years until his retirement in 1994. He was a Box Butte County commissioner from 1971 to 1974.

Paul's survivors, many of whom are with us tonight, include his wife, Aggie, a sister and seven children.
